Dr. Italo Linfante, Medical Director of Interventional Neuroradiology & Endovascular Neurosurgery with Baptist Health Neuroscience Center, explains there are two types of strokes: ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke, when the artery bursts and bleeds out. It can be caused by AVM, vascular malformation or aneurysm.
Not all of AVMs lead to strokes. They only happen in cases when AVM bursts, the specialist explains.
