COPD: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease




According to Dr. Veronica Palmero-Gonzalez, Pulmonologist with South Miami Hospital, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) includes diseases, like chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

“COPD is the damage of smoking into the airways, it presents chronic inflammation, which produces more mucus that makes the airways narrow, and the narrowing of the airways will create a decrease in airflow.” She explains patients start feeling breathless, coughing, and wheezing.
