Dr. Keith Jamal Robinson, Pulmonologist with Baptist Health South Florida, explains Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) exists in the periphery of the lung.

He points out most patients start to develop more mucus that can cause increased phlegm, and that can cause increased resistance within the airway, which makes it hard for patients to take a good quality breath.
