Fibroids & Menopause
Fibroids will get smaller after menopause, because they are dependent tumor. After menopause, women have less production of estrogen which causes the growth of fibroids, explains Dr. Alberto Sirven, Obstetrician & Gynecologist with West Kendall Baptist Hospital.
Fibroids can be caused by genetic changes, hormones and other growth factors such as a smooth muscle that grows and causes massive tissue. In most of the cases, fibroids tend to be benign, the expert says. According to Dr. Sirven, fibroids don’t disappear. They get smaller and reduce their size.
