Statistics show women under 35 have a much higher risk for stroke than men in the same age group. Researchers aren’t sure about what’s causing the higher risk, but they believe it may have something to do with pregnancy and other hormonal factors. After age 35 men have a higher stroke risk than women for at least the next 45 years.
