Besides the vaccine, there are some measures to prevent Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Dr. Alberto Sirven, Medical Director of the West Kendall OB/GYN Program and Women and Infant Credentials Committee Chairman with West Kendall Baptist Hospital, says protected sex with condom will be ideal, but it is not an absolute way to prevent it.
He also explains the vaccine is for those people who have never been exposed to HPV.
