For protecting children against influenza, the first thing is getting the flu shot, says Jennifer Couceyro, Advanced Registered Nurses Practitioner with Baptist Children’s Hospital,
She recommends getting the flu shot for kids, parents, household members, school teachers, people who work in hospitals and caregivers.
Children and the elderly are more immune- compromised and they are affected more by influenza. If someone has never got the flu shot, she recommends taking two doses rather than one
