Dr. Ileana Perez-Quintairos, Dermatologist with Baptist Health South Florida, says the type of treatment depends on the kind of skin you have. She explains people have some type of genetic contribution to their skin type.

She points out the color of our skin, the ability to develop sun damage, and the thickness are genetically determined. As we age, sun exposure, our lifestyles, smoking, and alcohol use, among others, affect the skin.
