Creating a good relationship between the therapist and the teenager is necessary to understand a possible teen depression and how to help overcome it.
Finding what’s going on is possible when the therapist asks parents and teens in order to know what is really bothering them. “I’m just going to ask them about what’s going on in their everyday life,” says Psychotherapist Amy Exum.
Psychotherapist Graciela Jimenez also considers important to find out a little bit about what was going on before the patients came to see the specialist. “If their personality started to change, the specialist has to look what caused those changes and ask questions about the timeline of when the symptoms started.”
