Types of Diabetes Interview With Dr. Deepa Sharma |
Dr. Deepa Sharma, Family Medicine Physician with Baptist Health Primary Care, says type 1 diabetes is usually considered autoimmune, and it usually occurs at a younger age, because there is no insulin being produced from the pancreas.
Type 2 diabetes usually occurs after the age of 40. She explains the pancreas is still producing insulin, but it is not enough or the patient develops an insulin resistance state.
