Dr. Bernie Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health Medical Group, explains diabetes happens when the body is unable to process the blood sugar, so you have very high levels of circulating blood glucose.

He also says type 1 diabetes is the most common one. “Type 1 is the one that you are born with, where the pancreas does not make enough insulin, which allows you to metabolize glucose, and use it in the tissues appropriately”. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
