Concussion Recovery

Dr. Brad Herskowitz, Neurologist and Medical Director of the Neurology Research Group with Baptist Health Neuroscience Center, says most concussions and most of their symptoms will recover in seven to ten days. He recommends resting until the patient feels better and is without symptoms, because if he still has it, It's difficult to return to normal activities. In athletes' cases, Dr. Herskowitz advises not coming back to play until the symptoms are completed disappeared, because the risk of another concussion could be fatal. He explains those athletes can get second impact syndrome if they don't recover appropriately.
