Menopause: Causes & Symptoms

Dr. Michelle Starke, Obstetrician and Gynecologist with Baptist Health South Florida, defines menopause as the time 12 months after the last menstrual period. He also explains the time prior to menopause (about five to ten years prior to the last menstrual period) is defined as menopausal transition or perimenopause. The doctor describes the symptoms can last 7 to 14 years. Besides, she clarifies every woman will go through menopause.
