Mastectomy reduces the risk of developing breast cancer by 95%. Dr. Miguel Angel Medina, Director of Microsurgery with Miami Cancer Institute, says mastectomy is a procedure that more young women do as awareness grows over genetic predispositions.
He points out they see a lot of benefits from acting prophylactically in patients that show a real possibility of getting breast cancer.
