Peripheral Arterial Disease Treatment
Dr. Bernie Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health Medical Group, says the goal of treatment for Peripheral Arterial Disease is to increase a pain-free walking distance. "We want to get the patient to walk in a way that he or she experiences longer and longer distance of pain-free intervals."
He explains that can be accomplished by a risk factor modification, which means controlling the cholesterol, diabetes, and cessation of smoking.
