Causes of Hearing Loss

There are some causes of hearing loss: work-related noise, loud music, earbuds or headphones, cell phone use and lack of ear protection. However, according to Dr. Peter Volsky, Otolaryngologist with Baptist Health South Florida, the sound intensity of a cell phone, within normal speaking volumes, will probably not be damaging for people’s hearing. Ear protection is needed when people work or stay in a noisy place for too long, because it will lower the amount of sound energy that gets to the ears and it will protect them.
