Dr. Yvon Petiote, Family Medicine Physician with Bethesda Hospital, Baptist Health, explains polypharmacy is commonly referred to the use of five or more prescribed medications. He also says the degree of polypharmacy can definitely be overdone, and when it is over 10 medications, the risks of adverse reaction rise.
