Tips for Talking about Mental Health

The following questions are helpful to talk to your children about mental health: Can you tell me more about what is happening?, how are you feeling?, have you had feelings like this in the past?, and how can I help you feel better? Dr. Moraima Trujillo, Chief Medical Officer with Banyan Health, says with those questions you are opening the doors for a conversation that will allow you to identify if there is a problem and if they need help. She explains people experience feelings that could be negative or positive. If you do not discuss them or talk about them, the bad feelings build up until they become destructive.
