Vigilance, The Key To Preventing Drowning
Vigilance is the key to preventing drowning. Being aware, being visual all the time is the first layer, affirms Dr. Zulma Berrios, Chief Medical Officer at West Kendall Baptist Hospital.
The second layer, according to the specialist, is to put any barriers that will prevent a child from getting access to water. Swimming lessons are the third layer. “Layers decrease the drowning risks," she says.
If drowning happens, the doctor recommends responding immediately with CPR and she also describes what drowning risks by age group are.
