Learning About Cardiac Rehab

People who have had any heart diseases do better if they undergo a cardiac rehabilitation, says Dr. Marcus St. John, Cardiovascular Specialist with Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. The rehab is a program of care using an outpatient setting; sometimes it is in a hospital or in a community. Those routines can improve the health of the patients, he says. The specialist also talks about genetic risk factors for heart attack, such as inherited blood pressure and cholesterol, family history of heart disease, type 1 diabetes and women through menopause, among others.
