The most dramatic and most deadly type of heart attack comes when an area in the heart artery, that has already developed plaque or cholesterol, gets inflamed and ruptures. That exposes inside of the artery to the blood supply and causes a coagulation cascade, because a blood clot forms and abruptly cuts off the blood supply to the heart muscle, he describes.
