Brain And Rehabilitation

“We know that we don´t know a lot about the brain", said Neurologist Dr. Felipe de los Rios about how far science has advanced studying the brain. “It's a marvellous organ," De los Rios joked. Stroke care has improved dramatically. “We need to be able to provide better care, to more people as well. Rehabilitation is an important area, because everyone can benefit from rehabilitation. We talk about TPA, the blood clot medication, we talk about the surgery, how we have to come in for hours or 24 hours for the procedure, etc. But everyone benefits from rehabilitation," says the specialist. However, not all patients need to be sent to rehabilitation, the doctor states. “We do an assessment and there are people that need more than others. There are people that do great after the stroke. They got TPA or the stroke is very small, and they bounce very quickly," highlights De los Rios.
