Patients with genetic components are more predisposed to seizures, but in some cases, seizures can be a result of a combination of factors. Dr. Alberto Pinzon, Neurologist with Baptist Health Neuroscience Center, says there is a stigma to this condition. In the past, it was said that patients were possessed, the population did not hear about seizures and, for these reasons, the correct diagnoses were delayed, he affirms.
