Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty that treats all conditions of arteries, veins and lymphatic. Vascular surgeons offer a full spectrum of minimally invasive treatment such angioplasty and stenting of blood vessels, explains Dr. Chaminda Jayanetti, Vascular Surgeon with Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He also says they treat every part of the body (except the heart and the brain) where there are blockages such as in carotid arteries, in the legs, and elsewhere in the body, and aneurysms of the aorta. Besides, vascular surgeons treat venous disease, varicose veins, deep vein and thrombosis.
