Drowning Prevention Warning Signs

There are some signs that may be signal that a person, child or adult, is in danger of drowning, such as their head is low in the water and the mouth is at water level, eyes glassy and empty unable to focus, and they are hyperventilating or gasping. "Whether it's a pool or the beach, keep an eye out for any of these signs. If you see somebody struggling, or trying to swim somewhere, and not getting there, pay attention to that. If they're trying to roll over on their back, to get that airway clear, to get their mouth above the water, that's not a normal position for somebody," says Dr. Fernando Mendoza, Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Baptist Children's Hospital.
