Maternity: Kangaroo Session

A kangaroo session lasts at least an hour. The mom should take a bathroom and water break before, and wear a button-down shirt or a zip up shirt. Then, the mother removes her bra and decides if the nurse will position the baby. She sits back, relaxes, and enjoys the special time. Grisel Gigato, Lactation Nurse with the Center for Women and Infants at South Miami Hospital, says sometimes it may last longer, for example, in the ICU mothers can hold their babies for 1.5 hours, two or three hours.
