Pap and HPV Testing

HPV is a virus and it’s sexually transmitted. It’s very common and a lot of women will be exposed to this virus, affirms Dr. Monica Suarez Kobilis, Family Medicine Physician with Baptist Health Primary Care. The expert also explains the Pap test looks for any abnormal cells. She says HPV can cause cervical cancer. Also, sometimes women may never know that they had it, because it goes away on its own.
