Cancer and BRCA Mutations

Dr. Arelis Martir-Negron, Medical Geneticist with Miami Cancer Institute, explains mutations is a word that is not supposed to be used in the genetics world, because everything is a change, even if it is benign. She says the correct expression is pathogenic variant. She points out if the patient gets positive for BRCA mutation, it increases the risk of cancer and the physician should give recommendations.
