Types Of Back Surgery

There are different types of back surgery, such as diskectomy, laminectomy, fusion and artificial disks. Dr. Theresa Pazionis, Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon at Miami Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, says those ones would happen for patients who presented with a herniated disk and with either back pain or leg pain. "The type of surgery selected depends on the patient's symptom. So, if you have back pain, that more pushes us towards a fusion because it comes from either the disks or the facet joints," she explains.
