Symptoms of Deep Vein Thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is determined depending on the type of patient, explains Dr. Chaminda Jayanetti, Vascular Surgeon with Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He says many hospitalized patients could experience pain, perhaps, from a recent surgery. In these patients, DVT can be silent and nurses or clinicians find that problem. In active patients, DVT tends to be a bit more symptomatic. Leg pain and swelling are the most common symptoms, the doctor says.
