Function of the Prostate

Dr. Marcio Fagundes, Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, says the prostate has both reproductive function and urinary control. He explains the prostate is situated between the bladder and the urethra and has the valve control for the urine. He points out prostate cancer is the most common cause of death in men after lung cancer. "26,000 men died of prostate cancer in 2016. It is a cancer that is better diagnosed early, when it is most curable, so we can prevent all of these deaths."
