Dr. Marcio Fagundes, Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, explains radiation is the last treatment. The patient will have a lumpectomy surgery, then a recommendation would be made to receive or not chemotherapy. He highlights internal radiation is placing a catheter inside the breast or cavity left behind after removing the cancer to do internal radiation; external radiation is the description of any form of radiation coming from the outside.
