Causes Of Spinal Compression Fractures

Osteoporosis, trauma, and pathologic compression fracture are some of the causes of spinal compression fractures. Dr. Adam Geronemus, Associate Director of the Fibroid Center at South Miami Hospital, says osteoporosis makes up the bulk of these fractures. "There's over ten million patients with osteoporosis and in the United States annually and the risk factors for osteoporosis are age, and gender (women are significantly more prone). By far osteoporosis is your biggest risk factor for the cubic compression."
