Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis

Dr. Richard Vivero, Otolaryngologist with Baptist Health South Florida, says Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP) is an HPV or human papilloma virus related problem. "RRP are like little cherries structures that grow all over the vocal cords." He explains RRP develops in the lining of the vocal cord, anywhere there is a junction between two different types of skin. In kids it can be dangerous because it can cause an airway obstruction, and in adults, it creates hoarseness.
