Treating Prostate Cancer

Active surveillance, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, surgery, radiation therapy, and proton therapy are some of the treatments for prostate cancer. Dr. Marcio Fagundes, Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, explains active surveillance is for stage one cancer that has a low aggressive appearance under the microscope. He says it is active monitoring and it is not treatment, but it is staying on top of it.
