Causes of Hair Loss

Age, diseases, medications or treatments, stress, low protein diet, poor nutrition, and family history are some of the causes of hair loss. Dr. Anthony Bared, Facial Plastic Surgeon with Baptist Health South Florida, explains as we age we are at higher risk for hair loss. "This can start genetically at an early age or even progress further along into middle-age. Health conditions, specifically thyroid, anemia, or low iron levels can create hair loss or start the hair loss pattern."
