Frequency of a Pap Smear Screening

A Pap test is a test looking for signs of cervical cancer. It’s a part of a pelvic exam, explains Dr. Monica Suarez Kobilis, Family Medicine Physician with Baptist Health Primary Care. She explains women under age 21 do not need a Pap test. Until 65, they need it to every 3 or 5 fives, but after age 65 she considers it’s not necessary unless the patient has had a history of abnormal Paps. HPV is a very common disease. To detect it requires a Pap test or a more advanced one more often.
