High-risk HPV Strains |
Dr. Alberto Sirven, Medical Director of the West Kendall OB/GYN Program and Women and Infant Credentials Committee Chairman with West Kendall Baptist Hospital, explains there are four mainly strains to diagnose Human Papillomavirus (HPV): 6, 11, 16, and 18. “6 and 11 are benign and 16 and 18 are more malignant”.
He also says those four strains are more known because of the vaccine that was developed specifically for those ones. He points out younger population tends to eliminate HPV without problems.
