Learning About Athlete’s Foot |

Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection which is caused by a fungus, tinea pedis, which is a fungus that enjoys moisture especially between the toes and in the bottom of the feet.
Dr. Nina Dieguez, Internal Medicine Physician with Baptist Health South Florida, recommends good hygiene and washing the socks, because the fungus can be dormant in them.
This fungus can cause itching and redness and can be eradicated on its own, the specialist says.
