Skin is the largest organ in our body. Its main function is protecting people from environment, particularly bacteria, fungus and unwanted substances, says Dr. Nina Dieguez, Internal Medicine Physician with Baptist Health South Florida.

With a digital imaging, Dr. Dieguez explains what the skin layers are and how infections can occur.

She also describes that people have three layers: epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue.
