the Most Common Eating Disorders

Anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are common eating disorders. Dr. Paula Levine, Psychologist and Founding Director of the Miami Counseling Resource Center, says binge eating is more common than either anorexia or bulimia, and yet binge eating is the newest disorder to be classified in the manual.

“People tend to eat more than they should on a regular basis, which does not necessarily mean they’re overweight.” She explains 70% of people with binge eating disorder have a problem with overweight, because in the binge eating they take in many more calories than they can possibly work off.
