The Role of Skin in Health |

Dr. Judith Crowell, Dermatologist with Baptist Health South Florida, says one thing that most people do not realize is how much the skin does for us. “We would not be able to live on this earth if we did not have the covering that we do, because it is a protective layer, it protects us from foreign enemies like bacteria, and it protects us from the sun.”

She also explains skin has cells that help fight infection, and with sun exposure, they disappear and the person gets cold sores.
