Natalie Castro, Registered Dietitian with Baptist Health South Florida, says plant-based foods are going to be higher in fiber. She explains they help the body to eliminate cholesterol not to go into the bloodstream.

She also points out processed foods take all of the fiber out, they add a bunch of salt and that increases our risk for hypertension, and makes our blood pressure go up.
