Treating Stomach Pain | Health Insiders

Dr. Deepa Sharma, Family Medicine Physician with Baptist Health Primary Care, recommends patients when having severe abdominal pain and it is terrible to see their primary care doctor. “That should go to the emergency room, because it may require lab test, imaging test, or immediate medical intervention.” She explains when a patient comes into the office with stomach issues, she will often ask the location of the pain, if it radiates anywhere, how long it has been going on for, the quality and severity of the pain, and associated symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and urinary symptoms. These questions are to get a sense of where the pain might be coming from and how we might be able to treat the pain.”
